Shadab Khan, captain of Islamabad United, is determined to win his team’s third HBL PSL trophy in the current season.
In an exclusive interview with Cricket Pakistan, the all-rounder stated that he appreciates the responsibility that comes with being a leader.
“I don’t have any personal objectives. “As captain, I always want my team to win the game, regardless of how well I perform,” Shadab explained.
“I am more concentrated when I am the captain because when you lead the side, you think more about the complete squad than yourself. “I enjoy captaincy and strive to keep myself and the players relaxed,” he continued.
Shadab also stated that the majority of his local and foreign players are in good shape, which would help them this season.
“All our players are ready as they have been playing in leagues throughout the world, so they have match practise and are in good form, so it is a positive indicator. “Hopefully, we’ll do everything we can to win the championship for the third time,” he stated.
The 24-year-old also underlined the need of using data in modern-day T20 cricket.
“We make an effort to incorporate modern-day cricket. I believe in statistics and match-ups, therefore it also benefits us greatly. We struggled last year owing to injuries, and our bench was insufficient, so we tried to compensate,” he remarked.
The captain of Islamabad has also chosen three young players from his squad who he believes can represent Pakistan.
“We have interesting emerging players like Hassan Nawaz, Zeeshan Zameer, and Mubasir Khan who can be future stars of Pakistan,” he concluded.
