An interim government minister stated to Express News that the PSL matches will not be relocated from Lahore and Rawalpindi to Karachi.
The Pakistan Super League (PSL) season eight matches will be played as scheduled in Lahore and Rawalpindi, as the standoff between the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and the temporary Punjab administration is set to resolve today.
Dr. Javed Akram, interim Minister of Health, affirmed to Express News that the PSL matches will not be moved from Lahore and Rawalpindi to Karachi.
The interim Punjab government has asked PCB for PKR500 million to hold the matches in Lahore and Rawalpindi. The board has already paid the Punjab government PKR50 million for food expenses.
The provincial administration is now requesting the remaining PKR450 million for illumination and security needs. To save money, the board is considering moving the Punjab portion of the PSL 8 to Karachi.
According to sources, the interim Punjab government has chosen to be flexible on lighting, security, and other costs. The Punjab government would bear sixty percent of the bill payment, while the PCB will bear forty percent.
The PCB and interim government representatives will settle this matter today.
On the Friday meeting of the aforementioned parties, PCB firmly refused to pay the PKR450 million in invoices for security, electricity, and other charges given over by the government.
Lahore will host PSL matches beginning February 26, while Rawalpindi will host PSL matches beginning March 1.
